Perfect Utility Shorts for My Handy Husband!

My husband is always tinkering with something—whether it's fixing things around the house, working in the garage, or heading out for a day of fishing. I got him these Palmyth Men's 7" Fishing Shorts because he needed something practical with lots of pockets, and they have been a total hit!He loves how lightweight and quick-drying they are, especially since he spends time near water or gets sweaty from yard work. The water-repellent fabric and UPF 50+ protection are bonuses he didn't even know he needed until he wore them on a sunny fishing trip—no sunburn, and they dried super fast after getting splashed. What really sold him are the 7 pockets, especially the tool pockets. He keeps his scissors, pliers, utility knife, and even a lanyard clipped on without anything feeling bulky. The fit is comfortable with the elastic waist, and the 7-inch inseam hits just right—not too short, not too long. They've held up well through multiple washes too.If your guy is the type who always has "stuff" to carry and needs shorts that work as hard as he does, these are a great pick. He's already asked for them in another color!Highly recommend—practical, durable, and actually stylish for a tool-wearing dad. 😊

SHORTS HAVE GREAT POCKETS!

I really like these Palmyth men’s fishing shorts, mainly because of the pockets—there are seven in total, which is a huge plus for me. Two of them stand out: one has a zipper and another has a Velcro closure. Those features make a big difference because I feel confident that my wallet or cash won’t fall out.The shorts look great and feel lightweight, and they seem durable so far—I’ve already washed them once with no issues. That said, I do wish they had a little less polyester. Living in the desert, the material can feel slightly sticky in the heat, and even after washing, I can still faintly notice that “post-gym” smell lingering. As for the price, it’s fair but right on the edge of being a bit expensive. Still, despite a couple of minor drawbacks, I like them enough that I’d consider buying another pair—those secure zipper and Velcro pockets really make them worth it.

They fit well and just enough elastic.

These fit spectacularly right out of the box. The pocket placement is clearly designed with anglers in mind — long tools like pliers slide in and stay secure instead of flopping around. Construction quality is solid throughout, and the material has good weight to it without feeling stiff or overly thin. I'd lost some weight and my old fishing shorts had gotten way too baggy, so these came in at the perfect time as a replacement.

Ultra breathable

These are awesome purpose built shorts for fishing. The material is very lightweight and stretchy, it's cool on even the hottest days. There's even a mesh crotch gusset for extra airflow. The waistband is wide and elastic and doesn't dig in, plus there are belt loops if you want to wear a belt with these shorts. The side pockets have a thick lining designed to hold tools and such, it's a great idea but it does make that side of the pants not as flexible as you move around. There's a large zippered pocket on the left side and 2 back pockets that both have zippers. Love all of the zippered storage for days on the water. These are nice shorts that are comfortable all day long. They're perfect for fishing and have some nice features that make them stand out from your regular shorts. The lightweight material is cool and dries quickly. The price is very reasonable. Good looking pair of shorts, I'd order these again.

Very Handy Shorts

I love the extra pockets on these shorts. They are very helpful for holding different things at different times. The material is nice and thick, which makes it feel very durable. The fit is good, not too tight or loose. They are comfortable and offer lots of freedom of movement.

Work shorts.

I got these to wear to work in an environment that can be tough on clothing and they are up to the durability challenge. They are lightweight, comfortable for all day wear and breathe very well. The zipper pockets are great for piece of mind that you won't lose the contents of your pockets as you move around. The length is perfect.

Comfortable, Practical, and Finally Not Spandex

I’ve been really impressed with these. The fit hits that sweet spot—comfortable without feeling baggy—and the material moves well without that stiff “outdoor gear” feel. The quick-dry fabric and water resistance are legit, and they breathe better than expected for something with this many pockets.Put them to the test on a 50k bike ride and had zero chafing—which is saying something, because you won’t catch me in spandex. The 7” inseam is a great middle ground: not too long, not too short. The pocket setup is actually useful (not just for looks), especially if you’re carrying tools or everyday gear. These are clearly designed with function in mind, not just style.Pros:Comfortable for long wear (even on extended rides)No chafing—huge winLightweight, breathable, and quick-dryingFunctional pocket layout (not gimmicky)Cons:Slightly more “utility” looking than casual shortsPocket count may be overkill for minimalistsBottom line: Great alternative to athletic gear if you want performance without looking like you’re headed to a Tour de France stage. These have become a go-to for anything active.

Comfortable, Practical, and Built for Long Days Outdoors

I recently got the Palmyth Men’s 7" Fishing Shorts in Charcoal, and they’ve quickly become my favorite go-to for fishing trips, hiking, and other outdoor activities. The water-repellent, quick-dry fabric is a game-changer—no more soggy shorts after a spill or unexpected splash. The UPF 50+ protection also gives me peace of mind during long hours in the sun, which is perfect for summer adventures. The seven-pocket design, including tool pockets, is incredibly practical. I can easily store small gear, tackle, or even my phone without worrying about items falling out. The fit is true to size, and the elastic back waist provides comfort while allowing freedom of movement, whether I’m casting a line or climbing over rocks.Durability seems solid—the fabric feels sturdy, the stitching is strong, and the shorts maintain their shape after multiple washes. The charcoal color is versatile and hides dirt well, which is always a plus for outdoor wear.Overall, these Palmyth fishing shorts combine comfort, functionality, and sun protection in a well-thought-out design. They’re ideal for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors and wants practical shorts that keep up with their adventures.

Soft Fabric But Runs A Bit Snug

This pair of shorts is made of a soft polyester and spandex blend. That's great for someone like me who has sensitive skin.I love the extra pockets. When I go to visit my animals at their farm, I have so many things I carry with me, like keys, bandanas, and sometimes medicines. I liked the ability to keep those items separated from the food that I have in my backpack. My goats have learned that it's where the treats are and attack it with hungry vigor. These shorts were going to help me limit ventures inside my pack. The shorts have 5% spandex in them. I think they might need another 5% because they were too snug around my hips. There was plenty of room in my legs. But I am afraid that if I sit down too fast, I might pop the waistband button off. So take my advice and order yours a size bigger than you think you should. That's what I am going to do with my next pair!

Great Utility, but Size Up

These shorts are a solid choice for a day on the water, but there are two things you should know before buying: they run small and the fabric is quite thin. I’d recommend sizing up if you prefer a bit of breathing room, especially since the material doesn't have much bulk to it.Pros:Storage: The 7-pocket layout is fantastic. Having a dedicated, reinforced spot for pliers is a game-changer.Quick-Dry: Because the fabric is thin, they dry incredibly fast if you get splashed.Sun Protection: The UPF 50+ rating provides peace of mind during long exposures.Cons:Thin Material: While lightweight, the fabric feels a bit thinner than expected. Time will tell on long-term durability.Tight Fit: Definitely smaller than standard sizing; the waist and seat are snug.Verdict: Lightweight and functional, just make sure to check the size chart and consider going up one size for the best fit.

Nice quality shorts with lots of pockets

These are good shorts for doing work around the house, fishing, going to the beach, etc. I wouldn't consider these shorts ones I would wear daily or anything. They are comfortable. I normally wear a 2xl in shorts so that is what I ordered and they fit me fine, so I'd say they are true to size. They have a nice amount of pockets for putting things. The fabric is very thin and does seem to be quick drying and such.I got them in the charcoal color and they are a nice shade of dark gray. I like the mix of different pockets on them. The rear pockets are both zippered and one of the cargo pockets is zippered as well. The cargo pockets have a lining to them to prevent tools from tearing the fabric. Plus it has two slash hand pockets for keys and whatnot. Very versatile. There is some elastic on the waistband, but they don't really expand a whole lot. Lastly there are belt loops for adding a belt.Overall I like these shorts and I feel like the price is reasonable for them.

Lightweight & comfortable definitely for outdoor tasks.

The Palmyth Men’s 7" Shorts with Water-Repellency and Quick Dry features are very lightweight. The pockets are deep providing confidence that things won’t fall out. And three of the pockets are zippered as well. I have a 34-35” waist and ordered the medium. They fit but the elasticity in the waist is maxed out. A large would have been a better fit. The "double" thigh pocket (two fishing tackle pockets) is actually one large pocket partitioned by Velcro making it a good fit for my cell phone. Upon opening the package it came in, I noticed a chemical like smell which I don’t find pleasant. I’ve allowed the shorts to soak in a soapy solution and have washed them twice. The smell seemed to decrease but is still present (probably from dyes or water-repellency treatments). I’ve worn the shorts all day today working outdoors but as I sit still here writing this review, I now still smell the odor. Shouldn't be necessary, but I’m going to try a white vinegar soak next. Unfortunately, for now I’ll have to reserve these shorts for heavy-duty outdoor tasks.

4 Stars

These shorts are really practical and well-suited for fishing or other outdoor activities. The seven pockets are great for keeping tools, gear, or small essentials organized and easily accessible. The water-repellent fabric and quick-dry material work as advertised, and the UPF 50+ protection is a nice bonus for sunny days. They’re comfortable to wear and the fit is true to size. My only minor issue is that with all the pockets, they can feel a bit bulky at times, but overall they’re a solid, functional pair of shorts for outdoor adventures.

Run Small!

Shorts are a great length for my 5’6” tall husband. Longer length shorts do not work well for him. However, these fit a bit small. He wears 36” pants in most everything (Duluth Trading, Wrangler, Levi, etc). These are tight. The pockets on the side of the leg are reinforced - great for fishing pliers, etc. The other pockets are generously sized too.The shorts dry fast and would be pretty great for fishing or just in general - except for the size. The black is dark and rich. They wash up well and are overall pretty good. Just too small :/

Nice shorts!

I picked up a pair of Palmyth men’s fishing shorts mainly for outdoor days and casual wear, and they’ve turned out to be a really practical, well-thought-out option.Practical, built-for-purpose designThe standout feature right away is the pocket setup. With multiple pockets (including tool and cargo-style ones), there’s a spot for everything—phone, keys, small tackle, or even a pocket knife. It’s especially useful when you don’t want to carry a bag or tackle box for quick trips.Comfort & performanceThe material feels lightweight but durable, and you can tell it’s made for being active. The quick-dry fabric is a big plus—whether it’s from water splashes or just sweating in the heat, they dry fast and don’t feel heavy. Many versions use a nylon/spandex blend, which gives a little stretch and makes moving around easy. The UPF 50+ protection is another feature I appreciate, especially for long days outside. It’s nice having that extra sun protection built right into what you’re wearing.Fit & everyday usabilityThe 7-inch length gives them a modern, slightly shorter fit without being too revealing. They’re comfortable enough for all-day wear—not just fishing, but also for hiking, yard work, or just running errands. They strike a good balance between functional and casual, so you don’t feel like you’re wearing overly “technical” gear everywhere.Small drawbacksIf I had to point out anything, it would be that with so many pockets, they can feel a bit bulky if you actually fill them all. Also, depending on the fit you prefer, you may want to double-check sizing—some versions lean slightly more relaxed.Overall impressionThese shorts are a great mix of utility, comfort, and durability. If you spend time outdoors—especially fishing—they’re incredibly handy, but they also work just as well for everyday summer wear. Definitely a solid pick if you want something functional without sacrificing comfort.

Nicely made water/fishing shorts

This review is for the Palmyth Men’s 7" Fishing Shorts with 7 Pockets.I happen to like water/fishing shorts, and needed to buy another pair. I decided to take a chance on these, versus the “NorthWest River” brand. ;-) The fit and finish is good, there were no ragged seams or stray threads. The fit was appropriate to the size listed, and if anything, ran a bit larger. Pockets were deep, and the “tool” pocket is roomy and has a stiff fabric lining to stand up to relatively pointed/sharp edges. The back pocks are zippered, and I found them somewhat difficult to get into. However, someone with smaller hands(mine are XL) would probably not have that problem. The zipper teeth are very small, and seem to bind easily, at least for me.The fabric dries quickly while wearing it in the sun. While it says “sun protection” on the label, it does NOT state any UPF rating *on the tag*, only in the Amazon listing as 50UPF. I’m taking that UPF rating with a large grain of salt. I pre-rinsed the shorts prior to wearing, and a significant amount of black dye came out with the first rinse. The fabric feels very thin, thinner than other brands of water/fishing shorts. I don’t feel that they will have the life of other brands. The perceived price/value ratio is not leading me towards buying more of this brand of water/fishing shorts.
