This trap is the most expensive crab trap I have purchased but you get what you pay for! I love to go crabbing for blue crabs on the pier down from my house. I have tried a lot but this one is the best. First, it’s lightweight and easy to pull up. Next, the bait hook is the easiest to use, especially when pulling off a stinking chicken leg. And the crabs can’t get out but you can dump them out very easily!

I go crabbing with my friends all over the summer. Our nets have been very worn down, and aren’t as effective as before. While choosing some new gear I picked up this net too. It includes the main wired crab net along with some extra parts too. There’s a ruler provided along with a clip as well. I didn’t find the size too heavy, and it can easily be tossed. The size is perfect for catching large quantities at a time. The mechanism is quite easy and simple too. There aren’t large holes so even smaller sea life can be caught too. Some of the rope was a lot weaker than I expected. It would also constantly get tangled after I pulled the net back in. The three ropes attached to the main rings needed to be reinforced to ensure it’s stable and won’t fall apart while still in the water. I’ve been able to catch quite a bit with this net, but it won’t last as long as I hoped for.

Man this was a blast. I think that might be more about how fun crabbing is with young kids on a nice day, but the kit worked great. Only note is that to watch the depth of where you’re going and make sure you have enough rope. We had to get another rope to reach the further out areas where the better crabs were.But otherwise fantastic. Caught three keepers in 45 minutes, which was perfect for a novelty family outing!

It's a great trap. My first time crabbing and I caught more than 25 crabs in 4 hours. It works great but the quality doesn't seem like it would last more than a season or two.Pros : comes with- 50ft rope- Crab size measuring ruler- Hook/pin for the bait- Affordable- Lightweight- Easy to storeCons :- Quality doesn't seem it would last more than 2 seasons- can't leave it underwater overnight or for few hours(Not entirely a con since it's not meant to be left underwater overnight)I would definitely recommend this trap to those who are hobbyists like myself.

I bought this for crabbing off the pier where I live near the SE USA coast. Worked like a charm! Even dropped it into an oyster bed and had zero issues with the net tearing or anything like that. Thing seems to be made solid and had no issues bringing up the few blues I caught. I did go ahead and zip tie the lower rings together, as others have suggested. I also added a 6oz pyramid to the middle of the bottom ring grid with a Luxon connector. Lastly, I cut a short length off the end of the hand line and used it to make the harness a 4-way, to give the trap a bit more stability (see photo). I still need to make a few adjustments to the harness-arm lengths, but didn’t have any issues using it in the ocean, regardless. Bait hook worked great on some chicken legs. The little scale seems to be handy, as well. Also, I guess I misunderstood the description, and thought it came with 2 bait hooks. However, after speaking with the CS dept at Palmyth, they said it only came with one, but extended me a $10 refund to purchase a second bait hook from another mfg, as they don’t sell them individually. All round extremely pleased with this trap and will be buying a second!

Really good net to throw in water while fishing. Did not receive the crab measurement tool, or maybe I misread product description.

I like the size of this trap; it catches crabs well, and I actually bought a second one after purchasing my first. The wire bottom needs some reinforcement, though. The wires are weakly attached to the bottom ring, and they break loose easily. One of my traps now has the bottom held together with zip ties after half of it detached from the ring. I always wash my traps after fishing trips, so it isn't a corrosion issue.That said, I still like these traps for infrequent crabbing. If you're going to be crabbing constantly, though, I would recommend looking for something a bit sturdier.

Perfect when using on the docks as I used it. Bag held the bait and did not get any crabs cutting it up yet.

Couldn't get the The pin that holds the meat off of the side of the cage so it could be placed in the center. I guess it'll work for some crabbing in deeper water, but it didn't work that great for myself. Old fashioned string, net, and meat did the job 10x better.

This is a perfect crab trap. The entire product is well made, you can tell it’s going to last a long time. It was a lot of fun pulling it up to the surface and seeing a bunch of crabs in it.

No issues at all. Right on time with the product and exactly what I had ordered. This is a phenomenal company that sent me a follow-up email to see if there was any problems with the product. Wow! I have not had a follow-up in a while. I will be in Florida on the 18th and want to redo this review but so far the company really cares for its customers. Not paid or free btw.

Works great and easy to use. May not be the most durable trap, but time will tell. Worth the money though for the times it's been out.

My family and I took this on our vacation to Virginia Beach and went crabbing off a fishing pier. We used it about 4 or 5 times and overall caught several dozen blue crabs and one turtle (it was released safely). The trap was sturdy and well built and the ropes were good qualtity. There was no noticeable wear and tear, or fraying. The crabs stayed in the net while it was being hauled up. We will definitely continue to use it on future crabbing expeditions.

In an hour my grandchildren and I caught 34 crabs. A small hook (which comes attached to the side of the cage - remove it and put it on the inside bottom, otherwise crabs will attach just to the outside of the basket and not climb in) gets fitted with the bait and you lower it on down. We crab off a dock as the crabs like that area, make sure your basket goes to the bottom, otherwise crabs will attach to the bottom of basket to feet rather than climbing in. This is made wonderfully sturdy. I was concerned about the investment but after two times out I felt I was already well on my way to recouping my money, considering how much crab meat costs. And loads of family fun. An old-fashioned, unplugged outing. Great enjoyment.
